A Note From Our Founders
“The story of Little Moons begins like most stories do, at the beginning.
As two kids growing up in our parents’ bakery in London, we were surrounded by a passion for creating amazing food and learnt how the little things combined to make a big difference.
We were inspired by the craft our parents poured into their products and the satisfaction they got from running a small business that made products people loved.
When we started Little Moons, we were guided by the same philosophy. We saw the power of mochi to bring a big smile to people’s faces.
We spent two years developing products that we were ready to shout about.
We’re proud to say our story is now about all of us - our team, our community, and those little moments of joy created by a bite of mochi ice cream.”
Meet Our Chief Executive
Joanna Allen considers herself a mission-led, impact-driven leader with a passion for transforming the future of food through category-defining brands.
Her career has spanned scale-up and mature consumer goods businesses with a track record for growth acceleration, operational transformation and creating & sustaining high company engagement. She has worked for Coca-Cola and Unilever in the UK and the US.
Prior to Little Moons, Joanna was the CEO of Unilever-owned snack business Graze. She is an advocate for B Corp & the Better Business Act.
Joanna joined the Little Moons family in June 2024 with a focus on developing our future growth plans, advancing operational efficiency and building a high engagement, high performance culture across the business.
Vivien & Howard are thrilled to have Joanna leading Little Moons — her values align deeply with ours, alongside her focus on fostering a culture where everyone can thrive.

What are Little Moons mochi?
Little Moons are made of two parts. A deliciously sweet, soft and chewy rice flour dough. This dough is steamed, pounded and gently wrapped around a centre of gelato ice cream, like a soft, snuggly puffer jacket on a cold day.
Eating it is a unique experience. A delicious bite-sized mochi ball of perfection. They’re unlike anything you’ve ever tasted before, but then again, they’re ice cream from another world.

What sets us apart?
Our Ingredients
We believe it takes exceptional ingredients to create exceptional taste. We begin by sourcing the best tasting ingredients from around the world to produce artisan, small batch gelato ice cream bursting with flavour.
Some ice creams can consist of up to 90% air, not ours.
The higher density of our gelato results in a more intense flavour.Our Technique
With 30 years of experience producing the finest artisan mochi, we expertly steam and pound the rice dough until it’s reached the perfect chewy texture. Using family know-how, we wrap a thin layer of mochi around gelato centres to create bite sized balls of joy. Created in small batches, we put love and care into each individual mochi. We finish by hand rolling each mochi to give its distinctive moon shape.
